About Me

Hi, everyone!

Hanboks are the traditional clothing worn by Koreans. Today, hanboks are largely worn for traditional holidays and special occasions such as a wedding or a child's first birthday.
The beauty of hanboks comes from its silhouette and colours. The curves of hanboks imitate the flow of nature. The use of combinations of strong contrasting colours in hanboks is in accordance with the East Asian philosophy.
I started sewing as a hobby to make my son clothes, bags and hanboks. I became fascinated by the colours and the texture of the hanbok fabric. After receiving numerous requests from the Korean community in Melbourne for me to make hanboks, I decided to launch my own hanbok brand, Hanbok Australia. I love not only making traditional hanboks, but also incorporating hanbok's key features and its elegance into modern dresses so that hanboks can be worn in our daily lives, not only for special occasions.

The growing interest in Korean culture in Australia and around the world through Korean dramas has led to many peope of non-Korean heritage becoming interested in the hanboks worn in these dramas. My hope is to produce beautiful hanboks, whether the traditional or hybrid modern versions, which all Australians can have access to and experience Korean culture.
